Recruitment Period: 1 SEP – 17 SEP (You will receive an email about the application confirmation & audition arrangement after submitting the application form )
Date: OCT 2023 – APR 2024 (Schedule will be annouced after admission)
Time：Sundays 15:00-18:00 (3 Hours per session, 15 Sessions, 45 Hours in total)
Venue: Sogno
Cnotent: Basic Jazz Harmony and Rhythm, Practicing Method on Basic Scales & Arpeggios, Repertoire Studies on Swing, Bossa & Funk, Improvisation Methods, Ensemble Playing …etc
Quota: 25-30 people (Applicants should be aged between 15-30. And you are needed to attend the audition on 25 SEP. HKYJC / Day Day Jazzy member is excepted)
Programme Fee: HKD$4,200 (payment method will be announced after admission)
Intermediates
Suitable for intermediates who want to have a deeper understanding of jazz

Content: Advance studies on Jazz Harmony and Rhythm, Applying Scales & Arpeggios on Soloing, Repertoire Studies on Modern Jazz styles, Improvisation Methods and Strategy, Ensemble Playing …etc
Quota: 25-30 people (Applicants should be aged between 15-30. And you are needed to attend the audition on 25 SEP. HKYJC / Day Day Jazzy member is excepted.
Jazz Combo
Suitable for those who have knowledge of jazz music, little performance experience, and want to build a better Musicianship, create original music and become a jazz musician.

Date: OCT 2023 – APR 2024 (Schedule will be annouced after admission)
Time: will be arranged by the tutors and the students after discussion (3 Hours per session, 12 Sessions, 36 Hours in total)
Venue: Sogno
Cnotent: Ensemble performance and musical talent development, jazz composition and arrangement, research of different types of jazz music works, etc.…etc
Interview date: The band need to attend the interview on 25 SEP
Interview content: Prepare a Jazz Standards or Original Composition with an arrangement, attach the score, perform in live band, and answer simple questions.
Remarks: The performance group Jazz Combo must sign up in the form of a 5-7-member band. Each band must have at least one pianist or guitarist, one bass guitarist or double bass player, and one drummer. The remaining members can be matched with any type of musicians, but no more than two pianists and guitarists. At least 4 of the members must be 15-30 years old.

Remarks:
Workshops are conducted mainly in Cantonese, supplemented by English.
Students who complete the programme can perform in the HKYJC Annual Concert in early May 2024. Details & rehearsal fee will be announced in the class.

Audition Details

Time: 730PM – 1030PM (TBC)
Venue: Sogno (LG/F, Kentucky Industrial Building, Kwai Chung)
Content: Please prepare a Jazz Standard, play along with your backing track and answer simple questions.
1. Candidates are required to prepare a jazz standard of their own choice.
2. You will be asked to play along with your backing track.
3. Your performance should include the melody of the song and improvisation over the chord changes.
4. The backing track should be 3 to 4 mins in length.
5. 88-keys weighted Keyboard, Drum set, Guitar amp, Bass amp, Microphones, Music Stands and PA system will be provided on the audition day.
