About Us

“Jazz In The Neighbourhood” (JITN) is one of the Tsuen Wan Town Hall Venue Partnership Programmes for the 2022–2026 period. It is jointly presented by Jazz World (Hong Kong) Limited and Count-in Music Limited, with funding support from the LCSD. The project aims to introduce jazz music to a wider audience through a series of jazz performances and educational activities, fostering greater appreciation and love for the genre.

Over the past four years, we have presented a wide range of music programmes, inviting jazz musicians from around the world as well as local artists – including jazz masters, emerging musicians, and youth bands – to share jazz music of different styles and traditions with the public. Through these efforts, we hope to establish Tsuen Wan Town Hall as a hub for jazz music, encouraging the public to integrate music into daily life and strengthening community bonds.

According to our statistics, over the four-year period we organized more than 80 performances, workshops, and music education programmes, featuring over 650 performers, including many internationally renowned jazz musicians. Total audience attendance exceeded 47,000. Behind these figures, we are always deeply aware that none of these achievements would have been possible without the support of our audiences, musicians, staff, venue partners, community partners, and the government.

“Jazz In The Neighbourhood” successfully concluded on 31 March 2026. We will continue this journey, bringing jazz music to every corner of Hong Kong.

Jazz World (Hong Kong)

Jazz World (Hong Kong) Limited was founded in 2001, originally as a record store specializing in jazz albums from around the world. Through close connections with record labels, artist management companies, and even the artists themselves, the company gradually built an extensive professional network. Coupled with a steadily growing fan base, Jazz World transformed its direction in 2005 and began presenting live performances.
In 2008, Jazz World co-founded Hong Kong’s first international jazz festival, and has since continued to present concerts on a regular basis. In 2013, the Jazz World Live Series brought numerous world‑class jazz musicians to Hong Kong—including Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Larry Carlton, Marcus Miller, and Kamasi Washington—helping the city gain visibility on the global jazz map.

Count-in Music

Since its establishment in 2013, Count-in Music has been committed to advancing Hong Kong’s local music culture. To date, it has presented more than a hundred performances and cultural events spanning a wide spectrum of genres, including Chinese music, classical, rock, experimental, and jazz. Count-in Music actively builds cross‑media platforms to foster collaboration between local musicians and artists from diverse disciplines.

Count-in Music has curated several large‑scale projects funded by the HKADC, and in 2017 led young Hong Kong jazz musicians and students from The Education University of Hong Kong to the United States to participate in the jazz educational programme, where their performances were highly acclaimed. Since 2016, the company has also supported The City University of Hong Kong in organising campus music programmes, accumulating over thirty performances and workshops.

In 2019, Count-in Music founded the Hong Kong Youth Jazz Collective to further nurture the next generation of local jazz musicians, presenting their work across various platforms. In 2020, the company produced the multimedia music theatre work “To Someone Alike” which explored father‑son relationships through jazz improvisation and immersive theatre, showcasing Count-in Music’s expanding depth in cross‑disciplinary artistic creation.
